Our Mission

The Grain Cane & Vine Spirit Society (the "Society") is a membership club open to Adults aged 21+ that meets at various venues in San Luis Obispo county. Our Mission is to Educate our members and improve their Appreciation of Spirits, Cocktails and Wine produced locally and beyond while having Good Times with fellow club members.  We are locals and are proud to live in SLO county so we highlight at least 1 SLO county distillery at each program.  We want to bring our county's distilleries more exposure and interest from our local spirit lovers.  As our club name implies, we appreciate all spirits made from Grain, Sugar Cane and Grape Vines.  Fruit, Honey and Agave based spirits are welcomed as well and may also be incorporated into our programs.

Women in Spirits

Our club isn't just a bunch of guys sitting around a bar talking about booze....not that there's anything wrong with that!  Along with Education, Appreciation and Good Times, our club has an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere and also has a program devoted to Women in the World of Spirits, where we sample various products and discuss the impact women have had on spirits in the past and present and how they have played an important role in their production throughout history.  Without them we wouldn't have the spirits and cocktails that we enjoy today and it is important that we highlight their historical and ongoing contributions to the industry. 

Events

At our events, we feature a unique tasting program where we learn about the history, science and people who make the spirits and then typically sample a flight, record our impressions and compare notes to help each other learn while having fun.  Our meetings are held at various venues throughout SLO county, though we usually meet somewhere around Paso Robles where the club is based.  

Event attendance is by RSVP and may need to be paid in advance or at the door depending on the event and venue.  You only pay for the events that you attend with the Club.  See our Events Calendar for details and cost.  

Responsible Consumption

As a public social club, we expect our members to conduct themselves appropriately while at society events.  We want to show the club in the best possible light with the distilleries that we host or visit.  We also want to be sure our members safely make it home afterwards. 

Marketing

While the society may receive samples and other forms of consideration, we are a private membership club of SLO County residents and are not formally affiliated with the SLO County/Paso Robles Distillery Trail, any Marketing organization or any Wholesaler, Distributor, Distillery, Winery, Brewery, Retailer, Bar or Restaurant.  We also do not earn any commission from any links we provide or products we promote.  Our focus is to help others learn about and share our passion for spirits and help grow the entire community of spirit enthusiasts in SLO County.  That being said, individual members may be affiliated with any of the above and we do welcome participation from our local industry in our events whenever possible.

Please Note:

The Grain Cane & Vine Spirit Society reserves the right to revoke membership at any time and will return the balance of any fees paid by the member....but, we really don't want to do that so just be cool, learn about spirits & cocktails and know how to have a good time socially.
